Clergy
The Rev. Samuel Nsengiyumva - Rector Fr. Sam, as he is commonly called, has been the rector/pastor of St. Peter’s since April 1, 2003. Prior to his coming to St. Peter’s, he was the pastor of Holy Family Episcopal Church in Angola, Indiana for a little over three years. As rector, Fr. Sam, with guidance from the bishop and help from other clergy and lay leaders, oversees and coordinates all activities related to the life and mission of St. Peter’s Church.
Fr. Sam was born in Rwanda, Africa, as a first born child of a first generation Christian couple who raised him to love everything the church had to offer. His earliest memories as a three year old include attending an outdoor church service where a large drum was being played to lead congregational singing. His love for worship and drums can be traced to those early years.
In 1984, Samuel, as he prefers to be called, had a spiritual awakening that led him to a greater awareness of God’s love for humanity and the need to share that news with everyone who would listen. He soon became a free-lance evangelist and church planter leading many to the awareness of God’s love for them and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of their lives. In 1988, he felt and responded to call to ordained ministry; leading to his ordination to the deaconate in 1992 and the priesthood in 1996. He has since served churches in Rwanda, Kenya, and the United States.
Fr. Sam holds a Bachelors degree in Bible, with minors in Christian Ministries and Community Development from Daystar University, Nairobi Kenya, and a Master’s degree from the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Indiana, where he studied Theology and Ethics with an emphasis on Peace Studies. He has received substantial training in community mediation with special emphasis on victim-offender mediation and restorative justice.
Beyond serving as the pastor of St. Peter’s, Fr. Sam is also involved in the diocese and the community. He serves as dean of the Lake Winnebago Deanery, and a member of the Executive Council and the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Fond du Lac, of which St. Peter’s is a part. In the community, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Sheboygan County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sheboygan Falls. He also coaches girls’ soccer for the Sheboygan Falls High School. Fr. Samuel is married to Marie Rose Nirere with whom he is blessed with four children, Amos, Emmanuel, Rachel, and Ruth. They are also grand-parents to a beautiful little girl named Keza.
The Rev. Greg Schultz- Deacon (Deacon Greg)
Deacon Greg started his ministry with Fr. Samuel and the congregation at St. Peter’s in 2004. He was ordained to the permanent deaconate on Aug. 26, 1996, and first served as Deacon at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Plymouth, WI. He was later assigned to St. Peter’s and after a few years, moved to St. James in Manitowoc, WI. He returned to St. Peter’s in 2004.
Deacon Greg was born and raised in Sheboygan. He is a cradle Episcopalian, baptized at Grace Episcopal Church in Sheboygan. He worked at Kohler Co. as a maintenance mechanic for 26 years and then went on to start his own business as a welder/ fabricator. When he and his family moved from Sheboygan to the rural Plymouth area, he started to attend St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. While there he started to feel the call to the deaconate. After much discernment he started a three-year training program that lead to his ordination.
Deacon Greg’s passion is working with youth. He has been involved with youth ministry on the congregational and diocesan level for many years. Before becoming ordained he was a youth leader. He continued with that after ordination and for several year, was also involved with the diocesan Happening program for high school age youth as a coordinator.
He is part of a number of ministries at St. Peter’s but his first love is still youth of any age. It is not unusual to find him chasing after or being chased by the kids at coffee hour after church.
Being a spouse or child of a deacon is not always easy. Without the loving support of his family, he would not have been able to pursue his calling. He and his "wonderful and very understanding wife Barb" are blessed with three children. Their son, Scott, is married to Joy and they have a son (Kail) and a daughter (Sage). An older daughter, Tracy, is married to Todd and they have two daughters, Ashlee and Emalyn. Their youngest, Becky, is pursuing a career in graphic communication.
