I have a lot of questions about my life and my challenges. How can having faith help me?

Maybe you’ve hit your limits. At one point or another, everyone dies. The 12-Step program puts this fact best when, in the first step, we admit that we are powerless over our lives and that our lives have become unmanageable. We have problems that can’t be solved and issues that won’t go away.

Limits bring up questions. These questions are beyond curiosity. They need to be answered.  We get angry when we hit our limits, when there’s nothing we can do. We start asking for help—maybe for the first time. There are many ways to get practical needs taken care of in life. But when we meet our limits or “hit bottom” (hopefully sooner than that moment).  You and I finally may say, I need help. That’s where faith comes in. You can admit the need for a Higher Power. There is a “force” in this universe that seeks to bring good influences to help you to improve.

In the Judeo-Christian tradition, we know that there’s a direction to this need and where it can be met—in a God who created this world and everyone/everything in it. We can have faith in God, and accept deep within that God will show us a way through our challenges—and show us the way in Jesus Christ.
